How Ongoing Planning Fees Work

Fee-Only Fiduciary Planning Fees: Transparent, No Hidden Costs

Why Fee-Only Fiduciary Advisors Charge Transparent Fees

As a fee-only fiduciary advisor, we are paid directly by you, not by product companies or investment managers. This means our fees are transparent because our compensation is not hidden in commissions or kickbacks. There is no conflict between giving you good advice and how we are paid. You can see exactly what you pay and why.

We charge a recurring fixed fee for Ongoing Financial Planning. Fees are paid quarterly in arrears, ranging from $3,600 to $10,500. The fee range is dependent upon variables including the specific needs of the Client, complexity, estimated time, research, and resources required to provide services to you, among other factors we deem relevant. Fees are negotiable and the final agreed upon fee will be outlined in your Advisory Contract.

The fee for this service will be adjusted upwards each year on the anniversary of the Client’s agreement, based on the greater of 0 or the Consumer Price Index for All Urban Consumers (CPI-U) to keep pace with inflation. Any adjustment will be rounded to the nearest $100 increment. This will only be implemented upon receiving written agreement from the Client via a signed fee schedule addendum. The increase is not automatic and will not take effect without documented Client consent.

How Investment Management Fees Work

Investment Management Services Fees

The fee is based on a percentage of assets under management and is negotiable. The annualized fees for investment management services are based on the following fee schedule:

Advisory Fee Schedule by Assets Under Management
Assets Under Management Annual Advisory Fee
$0 - $2,500,0001.00%
$2,500,001 - $5,000,000 0.75%
$5,000,001 and Above 0.50%

The annual advisory fee is paid monthly or quarterly in arrears based on the value of Client’s account(s) as of the last day of the billing period. The advisory fee is a blended tier. For example, for assets under management of $3,500,000, a Client would pay 1.00% on the first $2,500,000 and 0.75% on the remaining balance. The formula for the monthly fee is: (($2,500,000 × 1.00%) + ($1,000,000 × 0.75%)) ÷ 12. The formula for the quarterly fee is: (($2,500,000 × 1.00%) + ($1,000,000 × 0.75%)) ÷ 4.

In determining the advisory fee, we may allow accounts of members of the same household to be aggregated. Trusted Path relies on the valuation as provided by Client’s custodian in determining assets under management. Our advisory fee is prorated for any partial billing periods occurring during the engagement, including the initial and terminating billing periods. Adjustments will be made for deposits and withdrawals during the billing period.

Our minimum account size requirement is $300,000, which may be waived on a case-by-case basis by Trusted Path.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a fee-only fiduciary advisor?

A fee-only fiduciary advisor is a financial professional who is paid directly by their clients, not by product companies or investment managers. As a fiduciary, they are legally bound to put your interests first. This structure eliminates conflicts of interest and ensures that all advice is based on what is best for you, not on earning commissions.

How much does a fee-only fiduciary advisor cost?

Our fees range from $3,600 to $10,500 per year for ongoing financial planning, paid quarterly in arrears. Investment management fees range from 0.50% to 1.00% of assets under management, depending on the size and complexity of your portfolio. The exact fee depends on your specific needs, complexity, and the resources required to serve you well.

Why should I work with a fee-only fiduciary vs commission-based?

With a fee-only fiduciary advisor, you know exactly what you are paying and why. There are no hidden commissions, no incentives to recommend products that pay higher commissions, and no conflicts of interest. A commission-based advisor's compensation depends on the products they sell, which can create conflicts. Fee-only alignment means your advisor's success is directly tied to your financial success.

Do you offer financial planning without AUM?

Yes. Comprehensive financial planning is available as a standalone service at a flat fee ranging from $3,600 to $10,500, regardless of your assets under management.
